Which Multi-Touch camera to use? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I'm just getting started with the multi-touch integration into Unity3D, and I'm wondering what is a camera solution for the infrared, and what's the workflow for integrating it? Any help is appreciated. This is great!

i also would like to point you to the NUI book about MT. You can find the link on the frontpage. Generally nuigroup.com is a very good place for starting with multi touch

Hey blindsquirrel,

the PS3 camera is definitely the best bang for the buck. Cheap and works well. I use a unibrain fire-i with the infared lens coating. It is more money by far, but i dont have to take anything apart (and it is firewire, and you can chain them together)

Also, it looks like Sandor has just beaten me to the punch I was going to ask if you already had a tracker setup, or a table built, and if not, then, as Sandor suggested: hit the nuigroup:

nuicode.com/projects/wiki-book/files

Cheers!

Hey Guys, Thanks! Great info. We are looking at going through all of the motions to building an implementing one of these systems, utilizing Unity3D. This is a good first step.

We are a split shop. On one side, we have Macs, and on the other PCs. Can a Mac Mini run one of these? or do we need more power in terms of video processing and vram?

If we get some anticipated interest, are you guys available to consult with our projects?

Cheers,
Michael

Hey Michael,

our commercial tabel the "FishTish" is running on a MacMini with 4GB RAM. So it will be just fine till you are not having some seriously huge scenes. Regarding consultancy: sure man - this is part of our business. Just drop a not if you need something...

Cheers,

Sandor
